Default Paragons, worth making?

Should I make a paragon? I feel like it but then I think about how they are excluded out of elite areas like UW. Would I be EDIT: err, not pugging i meant H/Hing my whole paragon life?

If you're in a big guild with organised events: yes, if you wanna PUG: no.

I made a paragon and I enjoyed it. He's not my main but was definitely fun to use. Don't expect farming with him, though.

As for as getting into pugs, only experienced, non-noob players will appreciate a paragon's goodness.

^Gogo trolll...

At any rate, they are good fun, great classes, and are nicknamed imbagons for a reason.

If you have the time to create one, then its good. However, like with the rest of the game ull probably be HHing most things, unless in a good guild, at which point being a para is no diff to being a mez

if u like teh concept of paras...then try em out
it will prolly be long and far before u attempt uw on ur para

(unless ur makin ur para for that sole purpose of doin uw...
which would be pretty lame?)

if u dun like teh concept of paras...
long distance spear dps, party-wide support wit shouts/chants...
then dun make one

well, i made a paragon primarily so i could use her in UW/FOW. but now that i've leveled her and gotten more experience with a paragon, i use her other places than just elite areas.

you should definitely play one if you haven't yet. they are a lot of fun and not a big deal to lvl or w/e if you have EOTN, just do some kilroy boxing and then get yourself either to UW/FOW or through NF to DOA. you will be loved there.

"Save Yourselves!"

Otherwise, if you find playing it boring like me when you try it out, don't bother. If you find it fun, go for it.

Paragons can still solo UW? Wasn't that nerfed?

Ranger is my main these days. Paragon, Warrior, and Assassin vie for second place.

I cannot stand to play Imbagon, so mostly the Paragon is just for casual play when I do not have some time.

If you do not have a Ranger, go for that instead.

Rangers ftw...

at any rate imbagon isnt the only option for paragons, there are a myriad of fun builds. However, most pugs want you as an imbagon, therefore HH is good for not having to be SY spammer.

With Focused Anger and Aggressive Refrain, plus skills like Blazing Spear, Cruel spear and Harrier's Toss, you can be a massive DPS machine. The paragon's biggest strength, though, is similar to the Mesmer. You make the rest of the team look good.

Thumbs up

My paragon has become my primary char surpassing my first char my Ranger with almost 6 mill in xp. I've taken her through all campagns, UW, FoW, and trying for Urgoz and DoA. I find her the most fun. Though i still love my Rit and Drev. I like her hybrid nature of good armor, short ranged damage (spears have short bow range I believe). And I enjoy being able to affect all my party members. I dont have any regrets with her she's great fun. Though I'm partial to things with wings so maybe thats why too. :-p

I would recomend them to anyone especially over annoying Sins. :-p

I honestly didn't know what a Paragon did until I played as one. And this was after I played through Nightfall twice or so. But enough of stranding away from the topic...

Paragons are pretty much a jack of all trades. Not good at one particular thing, but they can do a myriad of things at once. You protect your party, shout to gain energy and buffs, throw lightning spears at your enemies, setting them on fire, and then knitting sweaters for your guild mates around the holidays. Unlike most player skill bars which generally focus on one or two things, Paragon skill bars are extremely diverse as to what each skill is supposed to do.

The good thing about the Paragon is that it can easily do anything and everything you need it to do for the team while still attacking away with little to no breaks in between. The bad thing is, the Paragon's success depends a lot on the team it's playing with (though this can be said for any class). You can pretty much say that the Paragon functions as an amplifier for its team.

except for the aforementioned "save yourselves!" of course. Definitely a one trick pony in terms of first-rate HM builds.

paragon as support god - case in point: doing FOW with 2 rangers, 4 paragons, warrior and dervish - overaggroed in Burning Forest and it looked like 1/2 the monsters in there descended upon us and nobody died! Red bars jumping up and down all across the party window, it looked like a bouncing equalizer display...needless to say the para's provided crazy support/prot/damage, we finished FOW no problems with no monks. Prolly not the greatest achievement of all time, but impressive to me nonetheless as i hadn't played a lot with Paragons before then. Now I have a LS3 paragon, but haven't really explored the class by finishing campaigns, etc - although I want to eventually (once my ranger gets to GWAMM - so maybe never lol) But I digress: @ og question, yes create a paragon if u want to play a ranged attack/mid-line support role (earshot distance for ur shouts/chants).

i love my paragon :-D
what i love more, is when people in my alliance decide to use there paragons at the same time as me in the same party xD

then things get really fun :-D

if you party has only one paragon you are pretty much limited to SY spam... kinda boring..

if you have 8 paragons in a party, you can do pretty much whatever you want as long as you have chorus of restoration and ballad of restoration in your bar :-P

VERY versatile class in numbers.

unfortunately, most people do not see there strength in numbers so no one makes them. *sigh*

I noticed one thing while speedrunning my Paragon through various missions today: they can use nicely made builds nearly everywhere. For me, running the Imbagon build has gotten me through 80% of the missions so far. The other 20% are the missions I had to complete before I could get the proper build made (heh). Fit for anywhere, really. Although admittedly, doing the same thing over and over in a select area gets quite boring.
